Research:
My
research interests lie broadly in fluid dynamics and more specifically
in flows for which buoyancy forces are important, as in many
geophysical and environmental contexts. Such flows are often
density-stratified and I study fundamental processes
including convection, instability and mixing, wave dynamics, and the
interaction of the flow with topography. I make use of laboratory
experiments and theoretical models to help understand these processes
and thus the geophysical flows to which they are relevant.
Areas
of current research include horizontal
convection (above right) and
stratified turbulence in exchange flows (right). |
